10th Anniversary Jeep Beach Rocks The Records For BRC

September 16, 2013 9:39 PM
Mid-Florida Jeep Club's Jeep Beach event.

BRC's Del (right) and Stacie (2nd from right) Albright receive a check for $15,000 to help save trails and keep our off-road sports alive, nationwide.

This year broke all the records for the Mid-Florida Jeep Club and their Jeep Beach event - record registrations; record Jeep numbers; record smiles; and record-breaking donations to charities.  BlueRibbon Coalition received an incredible donation of $15,000 to help save trails and keep our off-road sports alive, nationwide.

Greg Mumm, BRC Executive Director was nearly speechless!  "This could not have come at a better time.  BRC depends on supporting clubs and individuals, and wow, Jeep Beach just plain knocked our socks off!  We thank each and every member of the Mid-Florida Jeep Club, all their supporters and partners, and all the attendees who made this such a huge, record-breaking success; you have made a tremendous impact to our efforts."

‬Over 1250 Jeeps paraded down and back on the Daytona Beach; more than 1500 Jeeps hit the obstacle courses built by the club in the Daytona Speedway Infield; hundreds of happy wheelers invaded the host hotel; and someone counted nearly 3000 Jeeps hanging around the fun on Speedway day.

BFGoodrich Tires and Rugged Ridge were the Title Sponsors this year, and the list of participating businesses/vendors is huge!  A lot of folks jumped in to make this 10th anniversary memorable in many ways.

‬Milli Rice of the MFJC is the Event Director and has been for the last 5 years.   With her team, she has doubled the event participation and proceeds nearly each year.  The organization and team-building approach she takes sets this event aside as an example for others to follow. "I am so lucky to have such a great club in support of this event and my objectives for making Jeep Beach the huge success it has become," said Milli. "We work out issues together, as a team, and find better ways to keep building on our accomplishments. "

Jeep Beach offers the fun of a Photo Scavenger Hunt; Meet and Greet; Cruise-In, Beach Parade, Obstacle Course, and so much more.  Yes, this is a Jeep only event, and you can pretty much bet you'll not see a bigger collection of Jeeps in one parking lot like you do on Saturday during the obstacle course in the Speedway.

Del and Stacie Albright from BRC attend Jeep Beach every year and support the club with their event.   Del had this to say: "I see clubs all over the country doing great things for our sport and our trails, but Jeep Beach is about the most unique event out there.  The Mid-Florida Jeep Club kicks it in full gear and just plain sets a standard!"

Last year the club was able to donate at total of $30,000 amongst their charities. This year, their donations hit $85,786 throughout the year as a result of the event. That is over a 290% increase!

Charity donations included:

  • Boys and Girls Club of Volusia/Flagler Counties $44,000
  • Boys and Girls Club Summer Camp $10,000
  • The Blue Ribbon Coalition $15,000
  • Excellence in Education - $5,786 - 11 iPads and 11 $100 gift cards
  • Second Harvest Food Bank - $2,000
  • Local Jeep Club events - $9,000, that included:
    • $500 to the Wheelers for Wounded event in July hosted by the Matanzas Jeep Club
    • $5,000 to the Lacey Pate Poker Run in February hosted by the Jacked Up Jeep Club
    • $500 to the Sheriff's Youth Program in September at the JeepFest event
