Celebrating Ten Years of Continued Growth: Recognizing Those Who Have Helped BlueRibbon Coalition Succeed

by Jack Welch,
BRC President

BlueRibbon Celebrates Ten years of continued growth and takes time to recognize those who have helped the BRC succeed.

As we celebrate our Coalition's Tenth Anniversary it is important to reflect on the leadership we have had from our humble beings. As your president I have had the opportunity to work with the Coalition Staff very closely for the last several years. During that time I have learned that our success is a direct result of the tireless efforts of these individuals in supporting our members. BRC has a full time staff of four. Two staff members have been with us from the beginning and deserve special recognition.

It is only fitting that I start with Clark Collins, our Executive Director. Clark was instrumental in bringing the BlueRibbon into existence and guiding the Coalition's growth through the past ten years. He has faced the many challenges that took place. Clark has always gone the extra mile to see that our members got the help they needed. The same is true for organizations or businesses their requests always get answered.

The next staff member to deserve special recognition is Adena Cook, our Public Lands Director. Adena has, from the beginning, worked with the managers of public lands and BRC members to preserve our ability to ride. She has continuously monitored the public land use issues, along with other governmental actions. These government activities play important roles effecting the multi-use of public land.

In addition, Adena has spoken out on environmental issues and added common sense to the deliberations.In addition to these two staff members who have been with BlueRibbon from the beginning I want to thank our current Membership Manager Cindy Schenck and Magazine Editor Michael Patty for their efforts in keeping the BRC on track. It is with strong membership services and a quality BRC Magazine that the BlueRibbon TEAM is strong and on track for another decade of growth.

We all know that our ability to ride and enjoy motorized off-road recreation is constantly being challenged. Whether it be land closures, proposed wilderness areas, or wild life issues, there always seems to be an annoying "crisis" which forces us to make phone calls, write letters, or hire lawyers.

As your BlueRibbon President I want to assure you that we will continue to be your voice and watch dog at the national level. The BlueRibbon is the only united voice of motorized recreation for the United States. BlueRibbon's key areas of Public Policy, Land Use, Membership Services, and the BRC monthly Magazine help keep the multiple-use flame burning bright.Our BRC motto of "Preserving our natural resources FOR the public instead of From the public", really sums it all up.

Let us all join together as we begin the next decade of BlueRibbon growth and reflect on the BRC Mission statement: "The BlueRibbon Coalition champions multiple use of public lands for the benefit of motorized and other recreational users by empowering its members to:

  • Work collaboratively with land managers and other recreationists;
  • Educate the general public on land use; and
  • Promote responsible use and management of public lands."

The future is bright, let us stay the course. The BlueRibbon Team is on track and moving forward!
